At lunchtime today I represented the South West Florida Bicycle United Dealers (SWFBUD) at a commuters event in downtown Tampa to encourage folks to bike to work by bicycle and to attend the Oct. 19 Bicycle Bash by the Bay, a bicycle festival that won the Florida Bicycle Event of the Year award last year. It's being held at Vinoy Park in downtown St. Petersburg. See www.bicyclebash.com for more details.

At today's commuters event, Brian Eckman, owner of Carrollwood Bicycle Emporium, is pictured below fine-tuning a bicycle for free in downtown Tampa. Carrollwood Bicycle Emporuum is one of seven retail bicycle shops in the Tampa Bay area in SWFBUD.

Here, Manny Sierra of Carrwollwood Bicycle Emporium works on a bike.

Here is Jack Sweeney, a Tampa Velo-Man who is part of a growing bicycle culture in the Tampa Bay area. Jack and I biked in together to the commuter event in Tampa to day to spread the gospel of urban bicycling. Jack writes for www.bikecommuters.com.
