Hpnotiq
revmyspace.com

Hpnotiq (pronounced hip-not-ick) sloshed onto the bar scene with its silvery powder blue color back in 2002. A surprising product from the state of Kentucky, Hpnotiq was rampant amongst the Hipster's bar circuit with the shelf life of about a year. As with most fads, it died off as soon as the next "must be seen drinking" cocktail arrived. But these days, Hpnotiq is rallying a comeback mostly due to specifically marketing towards a woman's sense of style and vanity.

As if women need encouragement to drink alcohol the Hpnotiq website is all about 'the girls night out.' Where she goes and what she wears is almost as important as what she's seen drinking for an ice blue cocktail screams 'look at me' in a crowded room. Perhaps Hpnotiq is targeting women because of its pretty blue coloring. Maybe the fruity flavor has a more feminine pallet. Or perhaps, despite a blend of fruit, vodka and cognac it's only 34 proof. Let's see, pretty, fruity and low alcohol, OK, Hpnotiq is definitely for chicks but that's not necessarily a bad thing. After all, guys have their beer and cheap whiskey.

With a barely there proof level, drinking it by itself will probably get you sick before you get a good buzz, bartenders consider Hpnotiq more of a mixing liqueur than a full on spirit. Using it like triple sec it blends well with vodka based drinks. The chic blue coloring complicates matters a bit as it will turn murky green or swamp brown with most juices. Since Hpnotiq is all about style and being seen, they've created their own line of product drinks that keep up appearances as well as enhance their product's flavor.
