In a bizarre case in Tulsa, OK, families are reeling with shock after an 18-year-old girl was shot while hanging out with friends.
Kaitlyn Finnegan's parents, James and Jeanne Finnegan, had never even met her accused killer, according to KRMG's Steve Berg. Several stories about the mysterious shooting have popped up in local media.
Police are trying to put the pieces of this puzzle together. Finnegan's accused killer, 17-year-old Josh Fleming is in jail charged with first-degree murder.
The two teens were hanging out with friends in a closed room at someone's house when the shooting occurred. Instead of calling 911, Fleming and other friends piled into a car with Finnegan, and drove her to the hospital, leaving her there.
Fleming then went to Finnegan's home to tell her parents that she was sick and in the hospital. He then rode back to the hospital with the frantic family. By the time her parents arrived, Finnegan was already dead.
Finnegan's parents say that they didn't know Fleming before the shooting and that their daughter had only known him about a month. Fleming originally told police that Finnegan was shot in a drive-by episode. However, he later admitted shooting her in an "accident".
