While money matters may be at the top of the list of concerns for most consumers, most also share an interest in protecting our environment and preserving our resources. Builders around the country are pursuing ways to make homes more energy efficient and healthier for the earth and for residents.

In this recent article in The Washington Times, I mention a variety of companies that are looking into ways to build better homes. Parkwood Homes, a Colorado and Maryland builder, is now including solar power panels on their homes as standard features. Other initiatives which will be showcased at the Ecobuild conference in December in Washington, D.C. include homes built from recycled shipping containers.
