A large safety pin bracelet created by Julia Hanna.

In my last article I described how to make a bracelet with safety pins, so I decided to write a new one on how to make a bracelet with large safety pins.  Making a bracelet with small safety pins is easier, but I do like the visual effect of a bracelet with larger safety pins and beads.  The beads I used were iridescent fake pearls, which gives the bracelet a fun look.  My rationale for making jewelry with cheap supplies is I do not want to be dejected if the bracelet is broken or lost.  Also, I truly believe in making jewelry with affordable materials, which is really important with the current economy and job loss.  People want to think of fun and affordable activities for their children, so projects such as making a safety pin bracelet are ideal.  Adults will also enjoy making large safety pin bracelets because these are striking pieces that catch the eye.  The supplies needed for this project are:

  • scissors
  • stretchy cord
  • large safety pins
  • beads

Follow the slide show below to see the steps I used for making this bracelet.
