Kids rooms are special places. It's where they grow up. Even if they play in other parts of the house most of the time, children need to have welcoming, comforting rooms that make them feel safe and secure, and it doesn't hurt for them to be pretty or cool looking too.
I've been looking for ways to easily decorate my girls' room without spending a lot of money or effort but still personalize it without being locked into something permanent, so the decor can grow with them. This is especially important because young children will go through a lot of changes in a relatively short amount of time - from crib to toddler bed to big boy or girl beds. That means you're going to be redecorating and rearranging. So you're going to want wall art you can move around.
With all of that in mind, here's a look at the best wall art I've found for children's rooms.
Stuck on You's Wall Art is personalized with your child's name. It comes in all kinds of cool designs from cars to flowers, and my daughters' personal favorite - fairies. We put these up easily and in no time. Just peel and stick. You can also unpeel and restick if you want to move them around. Stuck on You also makes some really cute winter/holiday designs too with reindeer, snowmen and more. Perfect for seasonal decorating with a personal touch. StuckOnYou.biz is having a sale right now too.
Along this same line are the kids' designs by Fathead. They're not personalized but are gigantic and fun and come in all kids of designs from TinkerBell to your favorite sports teams, as you've no doubt seen on TV. We have the TinkerBell on the door to my girls' room, along with their names. I just cut out the letters from the excess sticky stuff that TinkerBell came mounted on. Fathead.com is having a buy one get one free sale through November 25.
Add some learning to your walls with eeBoo's Counting or Alphabet Wall Art. These are beautiful 8x10 wall placards that can be hung or framed and placed anywhere you want. We have the counting animals. We hung ours with double sided tape in a triangle design on one wall and use them to practice counting. They are very classy looking! They'd also make a nice border around a baby's room.
For bargain decorating - Use coloring book pages or pages from children's magazines or even books you find on bargain in the art books discount bins at bookstores. A fun coloring book choice are the personalized coloring books by Frecklebox.com. This way you get customized art without spending a lot. If you do opt to cut up books, I'd do it without little ones watching, so they don't get any bright ideas down the line.
Another great cheap idea, if you have access to them, the ads in some free French magazines make fantastic kids' room art work. We have some of these hung around our playroom. They add whimsy and fun to the walls without spending lots of money. A relative brought some of these back from her trip to Paris for us. Tre magnific!
I'd recommend putting ALL of the art I've mentioned up high enough to keep little fingers from trying to take them down. Trust me. I learned this the hard way.
