Many moms are trying to go green and get away from chemicals as much as possible - whether that's cleaning products or laundry detergents. But what about your underarms? Many deodorants are filled with chemicals and other yucky stuff. Antiperspirants often use aluminum to stop sweating by clogging up pores. (There's an interesting article on why to switch to natural deodorants at tasteforlife.com.)

So what natural deodorants are good ones to try? I made the switch while pregnant to natural deodorants because I didn't want any extra chemicals on my body (and I'm not going back!). I tried each of the ones below and recommend them. They smell good and so will you...

JASON Deodorant Sticks - These made in the USA deodorants have organic and natural ingredients to keep you smelling fresh. I tried the Aloe Vera and Naturally Fresh for Women and liked the both. The Aloe Vera is especially great for those with sensitive armpits. Both have no parabens, mineral oils, aluminum chlorohydrate, and animal by-products. Nor are they tested on animals. A good choice all around.

Nature’s Gate Organics Herbal Blend Deodorant Sticks - These are great smelling and feeling deodorants. I tried the chamomile and lemon verbena as well as the lavender and aloe. Both are really great smelling. The whole line is paraben-free, has no propylene glycol or aluminum chlorohydrate, contain baking soda and are hypo-allergenic. They're also not tested on animals or made with animal by-products. The organic ingredients are grown in California on a family-owned farm.

Avalon Organics Deodorant Spray - These are brand new deodorant sprays. They mist on and can be used on your underarms or anywhere else... even to freshen up a room. They're 100% natural and use organic essential oils to control odor. I tried the Clary Sage & Lemon as well as the Rosemary & Peppermint. These are so great smelling you could use them as your perfume too or as a refreshing body spray. I put them in thefridge for a quick cooling spray off too. If your pits are feeling sensitive, you may feel a little burn when they go on. This line is also free of parabens, aluminum, propylene glycol and artificial colors, fragrances and preservatives.
