Want to make something unique and personal for your baby or for an upcoming baby shower you'll be attending without spending a lot of money? Here's a fun and easy idea: a no-sew fleece blanket.

I made one of these for all of my children as I was pregnant. I feel it helps my "nesting" instinct to make things for my babies as they're "baking in my oven."

Here's how to make it:

  1. Buy a piece of polar fleece fabric about 4 feet long by 3 feet wide. Also buy an additional half yard of another color or pattern.
  2. Lay your big piece of fabric out and cut strips about 3-4 inches long all the way around the edges.
  3. Knot each strip, like in the photo.
  4. Cut strips about 4 inches long and 1-1.5 inches wide form the other color fabric. You can cut as many piece as you want, depending on how much of that color you want on your blanket.
  5. Tie these strips to the strips on your blanket.
  6. Optional: Use additional piece of your "other color" fabric and cut out either an initial or all the letters of your baby's name. You can either hand sew this on, use a machine, or use an iron-on material to fuse the fabrics together.

Waiting for baby can be tedious. This is a fun little craft you can make as you wait especially for baby. If you have other children you can get them to help with this project if you want too.
