Thermos' Intak water bottle

It's January 2, 2009... the holidays are officially over and it's time to make some resolutions just for you! These can be little things that don't take up much time but can make you feel better about yourself. It's hard work taking care of your children, sometimes the little things for yourself get over looked, so make a few promises to yourself to do a few things just for you this year. Here are a few ideas:

  • Brush your hair everyday and try to fix it in someway besides a ponytail once a week. There are many days when it seems like I start the day running and brushing my hair gets pushed aside by diaper changes and toddler requests.
  • Doll yourself up on occasion, even if you're only going to run errands. I find it hard to do this but I always feel good about myself when I make the time now and then.
  • Treat yourself to a movie just for you a few times a month. My husband makes sure I get to do this. I really revives me and I miss my girls even though I'm only away from the house for a few hours. It's such a nice treat.
  • Find a hobby that you can do while the kids nap or sleep. Whether its watching TV shows on DVD, painting, sewing or something else. Having a hobby that you can do at home that doesn't take up much space is relaxing.
  • Drink more water. This is simple and can do a lot for your body. Do something for the Earth while you're doing something for yourself and forget those throwaway plastic water bottles. There are lots of great reusable BPA-free water bottles for moms. Some great ones to try: Tappening bottles, EcoUsables reusable metal bottles, Camelbak's The Better Bottle & Thermos' Intak. My fav of these four great bottles: the Intak because it has a dial on the lid that helps you keep track of how many refills you've done. Some days its hard for me to keep track of how much water I've had with all of the other things I'm doing.
  • Walk around the block everyday with the kids. When the weather gets better, take a hike through a park or forest too. Kids love to get out and this is something easy you can do together that builds great habits for them and is relaxing and good exercise too.
  • Eat one meal that is just vegetables. This can be a salad or a meal of potatoes, carrots and broccoli. Change it up. This is good for you and for the environment. Cutting meat out of just one meal per day can save lots of fuel and reduce pollution, plus it's good for you!
