This week the baby name of the days all come from pioneering women. Today's name: Molly for Molly Pitcher. Being today is Veteran's Day, it's a perfect day to remember Molly Pitcher who is noted as being one of the first female veterans in the US. "Though she initially became
popular for carrying water (and beer) to her husband during the Revolutionary War, she achieved her notoriety for taking his place firing a cannon when he collapsed during battle," according to US Rep. Jo Ann Emerson's webpage. (You can read more about woman who have served our country at that site as well.)
Molly is an Irish pet name of Mary, meaning "star of the sea," according to thinkbabynames.com.
