The Best... Birthday Gear For Kids

No matter the birthday, celebrate it in style and make your little ones feel special with this fun gear! Of course, these would all make fun gifts to send friends or relatives children on their birthdays too.

Birthday girl and boy hats by Rich Frog ($15.95, richfrog.com)

These are just about the cutest birthday hats I've ever seen. They're soft, their fun and they scream look at me - which kids LOVE! One side is a cake, the other has a birthday message.

All the hats in this line by Rich Frog are reversible with a simple embroidery on one side and a fun plush opposite side. They have other non-birthday hats too, like lions and dogs, even jackolanterns and snowmen.

Happy Birthday Plates by LA Plates ($25, laplates.com)

Get a BPA-free personalized plate for your little one to eat cake (and everything else on).

Get one birthday plate for everyone in the family to use on their birthday or get personalized plates with names or initials. They're made from melamine and are dishwasher safe.

These are super cute and come in a variety of backgrounds. My daughter thinks eating on her polka dot plate is a hoot.

Birthday girl and boy bibs by Lily Pad Baby ($10, lilypadbaby.com)

These cute bibs come in either birthday girl with cupcakes and cakes with candles on a green background (pictured, right) or birthday boy with presents and candles on a blue background. Of course, either could be used for a girl or boy.

After the big event - use the reverse side instead if you want... both have colorful dot patterns. Make it even more special by having it personalized for $6.

Birthday Cupcake Shirt by Ambajam ($30, ambajam.com)

This shirt is great for wearing on your child's special day to school or daycare or for just romping around town.

It is super soft and is made from a high quality thick cotton. It's also pre-shrunk for a good fit and comes in log or short sleeves so it's great for birthdays anytime of the year.

I love the design -  a colorful gender neutral cupcake made from polka dot material with an embroidered candle.

It would also be a fun shirt to wear to a birthday party.

Birthday Pajamas by Sara's Prints ($34, sarasprints.com)

These soft pjs are designed just for girls with their ruffly pink trim (see photo right).

But Sara's Prints also makes lots of fun boy patterns from dinosaurs to sports to pirates and everything in between. They of course also have lots of other girl designs too, but these cupcake jammies are too sweet to pass up for waking up in on your daughter's special day.

All of the pajamas at Saras Prints are made from a special naturally flame resistant material that doesn't have to be treated with yucky chemicals, so you can feel good about your little ones putting these on any time of the year. (You can read more about their material HERE.) The jammies are also made with cotton grown in the USA.

It is a tradition in my family to always get a new pair of pjs to wear on your birthday. I've always looked forward to it and to this day I buy myself some new jammies to wear on my birthday! So my girs always get new pjs on their special day too.

Personalized Birthday Crown by Cakies ($35, mycakies.etsy.com)

These handmade crowns (see photo above of my daughter Ellerie in her crown and Sara's Prints birthday pjs) are a little pricey but add that extra special touch to celebrate your prince or princess.

The crowns are custom made by a mom of two girls who knows that kids like to have things made just for them... so you can pick out all of the colors and of course the letter. She also makes crowns with flowers and other items.

One idea for birthday crowns like these was passed on to me from a parent from the Chicago Waldorf School. On children's birthdays, the school gives kids a rainbow cape and a birthday crown to wear around all day. The kids love how special it makes them feel. You can start this tradition in your home too.
