Babywearing has lots of benefits. (See my post explaining the basics of babywearing HERE.) But you don't have to spend a lot of money to wear your baby and reap the benefits.
You can make a simple no-sew wrap in under five minutes. All you need is to buy a piece of fabric five yards long and 40-60 inches wide. Cut it into two 20 inch or three 30 inch segments that are five yards long each.
That's it! Keep one in your car and the other in your house. If you opted to make three, give one away to a friend or donate it to a local woman's shelter or help center. Then all that's left is securing baby and wearing him or her around town.
I like to buy my wrap fabric from the bargain/clearance section of Walmart or Joann's Fabric. There, you can find fabric for $1-$3 per yard that will work perfectly for a wrap. I suggest a stretching cotton fabric like a gauze or a jersey knit. You can even customize with eco-friendly 100% organic fabrics for a fraction of the price of professionally made wraps, like the Moby Wrap.
