You're going to love how easy it is to make your own sparkling cider for this year's holiday festivities. You just add plain sparkling water to apple juice. That's it! Add a cinnamon stick for a pretty garnish and fun straw, if you want. (I wish I had figured this out when I was pregnant. I would have saved a lot of money!)

You can spice things up a bit by first mixing the apple juice with a little bit of brown sugar, cinnamon, ground cloves, nutmeg and/or all-spice, if you want to. Or make a healthier version of spiced cider with THIS recipe. Making it into a spiced cider makes it taste more seasonal and sweetens it up for adults and older children.

Like the idea but want to take it a step further and do it completely from scratch? It requires extra equipment and time, but you get the benefit knowing everything in it is all natural! Here's how to do it...

First you would have to buy a carbonating gizmo, like the SodaStream machine by SodaClub (sodaclubusa.com).

They're pretty neat, not complicated and you don't even need any energy to work it. You do have to mess with getting the CO2 refilled when you run out though. But later you can make your own sodas, energy drinks and sparkling waters for really cheap too, once you've used it enough to offset the purchase price, of course. It's also environmentally friendly because think of all the  bottles you don't have to toss in the trash or recycling can anymore.
If you buy one of these gadgets, then all you have to do for the first step of making your own sparkling cider is fill the container with plain tap water, hit the button and bam, instant sparkling water. (I have one of these and it's pretty fun to use. I also love how the sparkling water tastes, as well of course this homemade sparkling cider!)

The next step in making our homemade sparkling cider is to follow a recipe for homemade apple cider. Then mix it with the sparkling water you made and you've got an extra special homemade holiday beverage! Enjoy.
