In this tight economy more and more people are turning to coupons to save a little extra cash whenever and wherever they can.
So I asked Lenka Keston of CouponWinner.com for some tips for moms and dads (and everyone else) on finding the best free grocery and other coupons online.
Examiner: Any couponing tricks?
Lenka: Probably the best trick is to always do your research. Compare items at multiple sites and stores to see where you can combine sale prices with coupons for the best deals. Also, many grocery stores offer double coupons and online sites may allow you to “stack” coupons like 10% off with Free Shipping. If you get in the habit of using “coupons,” eventually you will never want to pay full price. Now every time I’m about to use my credit card, I always check (online) and ask for (in stores) available discounts.
Examiner: Which coupons are most popular?
Lenka: Some of our most popular coupons are: Target, JCPenney, Dell, PetSmart, Weight Watchers, Blockbuster... Coupons range from sitewide offers up to 20% off your order, Free shipping and numerous product deals
Examiner: How has the economy has affected the popularity of coupons in general?
Lenka: We have actually seen an increase in the number of people searching for coupons and discounts. With rising pump prices and cost of living, people are looking for new ways to save on everyday expenses. To the surprise of some, online shopping can be a great way to save money by saving on gas and time going to the store and receiving discounts that are even better than in the store. Retailers are often willing to provide better discounts to encourage spending online because they have larger margins (since they are not paying for storefront costs, labor, minimal operating expenses etc.).
Examiner: Tell me how and why you came to found your coupon website.
Lenka: With the number of retailers selling via online has risen each year, it can be difficult for a “savvy” shopper to know where to find discounts all in one place. CouponWinner.com was created to be the first place you go before you shop online – a one-stop shop for coupons, information on new places to shop, tips on shopping, fashion articles, eco-conscious shopping trends, and much more.
Examiner: Anything else you want to add?
Lenka: It has been a great experience working with the site. User feedback has driven us to continuously come up with even more features that can help users save money while shopping both online and offline. Last year we created own comparison tool called “Coupon Scout” to allow shoppers to line up retailer offers side by side to find the best discounts. Earlier this year, we added more printable coupons to meet the demands of the increasing number of users looking to save money.
