Here's a fun, easy and inexpensive kid-friendly idea to do with the kids today for National Chocolate Day or a party down the line - chocolate spoons.

A tray of chocolate covered spoons tied with some Halloween ribbons add a bit of whimsy to your treat table at a Halloween (or any other) party!

Make an eco-friendly version by using the new recycled plastic spoons by Diamond. These are also great because they use less plastic to make, leaving a nice slot in the middle to tie a pretty ribbon.

Here's how you make them:

  1. Buy a package of mini chocolate chips (I used the store brand kind that were on sale.) You could also buy white chocolate and add a drop or two of orange food coloring to add extra Halloween fun.
  2. Melt one cup of the mini chocolate chips in the microwave in a glass bowl. Be sure to stir every 30 seconds.
  3. Spoon chocolate onto top side of spoon or just dip the whole thing in the bowl.
  4. Dip into orange and white sprinkles or a second color of chocolate if you want.
  5. Let dry/cool on wax paper. (You can put them into fridge to cool faster if you want.)
  6. Tie Halloween themed ribbon onto the center of the spoons.

You can have your little ones help make these too. They can be in charge of dipping in the spoon or dipping the spoons into orange and white spinkles depending on their age! Just be sure that an adult is incharge of the chocolate bowl which will be very  warm.

These are fun for kids to lick off like a lollipop or to stir hot cocoa! Adults can add a little extra yum to their coffee with these spoons too.

All month I'll be featuring Halloween ideas that are fun for children, be it costumes, party ideas, foods, clothes and more! You can read all of them HERE. At least one new Halloween idea will be published every day!
