Even if your baby or toddler doesn't have but a few toys, when you add that to shoes and clothes and hats and socks and everything else, rooms can get messy fast.
Organizing your child's room doesn't have to be expensive or time consuming. It can actually be fun.
Closet
In the closet, a great way to make enough room for the clothes of two children who are sharing is simply add a curtain tension rod about three feet off of the ground. (You can find this type of rod at stores like Walmart and Target.) You need to make sure you put it in tightly. Then put your baby's clothes on the top pole and older child's clothes on the new bottom pole. This way the child who can dress herself has access to her clothes without pulling things down.
Add baskets or bins across the top for shoes, extra toys, socks, etc.
Under the bed
Utilize your under the bed space with fun containers your kids can access themselves. I like the Little Red Wagon under bed storage bin (KangaroomStorage.com, $24.99). It has a great handle that makes it easy for little hands to reach under the bed. My daughter liked this so much, she actually took a nap in it when we first got it. That made it hard to put to work right away, but I did manage to get her to later help me put toys inside and put it under the bed. It just makes putting stuff up a little more fun so it's a little more likely to happen.
For babies not yet walking or crawling (therefore not getting into stuff yet), you can also store seasonal clothes under their crib.
In the corner
If you need more storage space, think about storing extra toys right out in the open, but neatly disguised as a fun kids seat. I like these super cute Cupcake Storage Bags for just. I don't have one of these, but I need one!
Other uses for diaper stackers
Once you turn your child's nursery into their "room" (or if you're like me maybe you never had a nursery and always just had a bedroom and did diaper changes elsewhere), you'll want to move out the diaper stuff. But you don't have to put away that diaper stacker.
Instead, you can use it for:
If you're like me, maybe you never bothered to get a diaper stacker for diapers. But you might opt for one instead to use in one of these alternative ways. If you do, check out the nice and wide (and ultra soft) Joey and Jane Diaper Stacker.
