Diaper Diaries: The Diaper Challenge - Kissaluvs

 Kissaluvs Organic Cotton/Hemp Fitted Diaper

This is a part of a new series of stories called Diaper Diaries - The Diaper Challenge that explores cloth diapering, which is gaining in popularity everyday. (Read the rest of the articles in this series HERE.)

I challenged diaper companies small and large to send me their best diaper to test out. I will be reporting my findings about each diaper individually as well as comparing and contrasting them later in this series. Each diaper has been tested for about a month by both my one year old and 2.5 year old girls.

Kissaluvs, kissaluvs.com

Kissaluvs makes a variety of diaper products from organic diapers to wipes. I tried the new Kissaluv Organic Cotton/Hemp Fitter Diaper ($16.95, click for retailers) in a size one. (For info on the sizes, click HERE.)

This diaper just came on the market in the last few months. It's made of  55% natural hemp and 45% organic cotton. Kissaluvs says the mix of materials in their organic diap are "naturally durable and anti-bacterial Hemp, and certified Organic cotton; our new diapers take green and sustainability seriously."

The Kissaluv has a lower profile, as I like to say, because it has a low rise and isn't as bulky as some fitted diapers. The Kissaluv organics have just one row of snaps, which does speed up in putting them on. There is also a snap in insert, which keeps the insert put but allows for faster drying. Elastic runs along the legs and at the back. But as many moms have written on Kissaluv's feedback page, they don't leave red marks.

One thing you should note is that these shrink up quite a bit in the wash. That is how they're designed to work. They end up looking really small and you might think, "Hmmm, this is too small for my baby now." But it most likely is not. I think that almost every time I put this diaper on and it always fits just perfectly.

The drawback for this diaper for me: it feels wet when baby soaks it and mine is a soaker. So, like the others, we don't use this one at night. Though it never has leaked. It is very absorbent and still looks new after well over a month of testing. It also takes a bit longer to dry, but that doesn't really bother me. I just hang it on a clothes line in my laundry room for a bit after the end of the normal dry cycle.
