Wearing makeup instead of a mask is recommended by most safety experts. But some Halloween face paints contain lead and are really cakey and gross. So if you want your little goblin or monster to be made up to the nines this Halloween fix up  their cute little faces with homemade makeup.

I asked family savings expert Kim Danger for her recipe for homemade face paint. Here it is:

Ingredients
3 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 Tbsp. flour
¾ C. light corn syrup
¼ C. water
Food coloring

  1. Mix cornstarch, flour, corn syrup and water.
  2. Divide into small containers adding food coloring until desired shade is attained.
  3. Apply with a cotton swab.
