Texans: It's pretty clear nothing about the Texan running game is going to be fantasy-worthy this season. Ahman Green still has the best potential, but he's an injury waiting to happen on each carry. Rookie Steve Slaton got a nice opportunity (13 touches) against the Steelers, but did nothing with it. If you're going to carry any Texan running back on your team, it's almost got to be Green ...
We all know Andre Johnson is a stud, but this team needs a second weapon desperately. Andre Davis does not appear to be that guy. Kevin Walter had three catches against the Colts, and something tells me that's going to be more the norm than the exception. In a word: mediocre. He might pop up with a big game here and there, but I'm not going to try to guess when. Cut him.
Steelers: Three touchdowns in the opener. So much for Rashard Mendenhall taking red-zone opportunites away from Willie Parker. If Parker slipped to you in Round 2 of your fantasy draft, make sure to send a thank you to everyone in your league who drafted in the latter half of Round 1, and to whatever bogus fantasy magazine they'd been reading. Parker remains a fantasy star ...
Granted it was against the Texans, but the Steelers looked awfully good on offense. Ben Roethlisberger certainly established himself as a most-weeks fantasy starter, and Hines Ward is back in the picture on a week-by-week basis. It still says here that Santonio Holmes will prove more fantasy-worthy than either Big Ben or Ward, but that opener was a disappointment. Stick with him.
