Lions: Kevin Smith scored a touchdown in his NFL debut, but 48 yards on 16 carries against the lowly Falcons isn't the stuff of legends. Don't be surprised if Rudi Johnson gets more and more action as the weeks progress ...
The Lions' big loss did answer one question: Who's going to be more valuable to a fantasy team this season, Roy Williams or Calvin Johnson? Williams caught the TD, but it was Johnson who was the far more popular target, turning seven catches into 107 yards. Conclusion: Johnson is a dependable No. 2 fantasy receiver. Williams makes a nice No. 3.
Falcons: Congratulations on drafting Michael Turner as your third running back. Hope you had him in the lineup in Week 1. Now trade him. His value will never be higher, and he's unlikely to face another opponent as weak as the one he encountered in his debut. When he rushes 15 times for 50 yards this week against Tampa Bay, the truth will be out. Deal him now while you can get top dollar for him ...
Roddy White didn't have much of an opener, but it's easy to see why. The Falcons threw only 13 passes against the completely overmatched Lions. When Atlanta falls behind, which will occur in most games, that number will double or triple. If you double or triple White's two catches for 54 yards, you have yourself a nice little outing. Stick with him.
