Believe it or not, I once played in a promotional fantasy football league -- a so-called "experts" league -- in which one of the teams flat-out cheated. The guy took advantage of a glitch in the computer system to play an extra wide receiver in a slot that was supposed to be reserved for tight ends.
Of course, he eventually got caught, and came up with some lame excuse about not knowing the rules of the league. Yeah, right.
The point is: In almost every fantasy league there comes an opportunity to cheat. Maybe it's conspiring to make a lopsided trade with a friend. Maybe it's not playing your best guys in order to allow your buddy to win a key matchup and make the playoffs.
Do yourself a favor: Don't do it. It's just not worth the potential embarrassment of getting caught.
Say, for example, you realized after Thursday's game that your league's computer program was still allowing you to put Browns and Broncos in this week's lineup. You've got Eddie Royal, and you hadn't played him.
Should you do it? I mean, who's going to notice?
Show some class. Recognize you blundered by not putting Royal in the lineup and move on. Then inform your league commissioner of this glitch so that it can be corrected.
It's called playing the game the right way. You'll be glad you did.
