Grab Gus Frerotte off waivers.
It's time to reassess your backup quarterback situation.
With bad weather about to become a major factor in our game, do you really want Trent Edwards as your backup? Matt Cassel? Even Jason Campbell?
When my quarterback is questionable, I want a sure-thing available on the bench. Given his remaining schedule, Frerotte qualifies as such.
Look at the Vikings' upcoming games: at Tampa Bay, at Jacksonville, Chicago, at Detroit, at Arizona, Atlanta, New York Giants.
All are good-weather games, and the list includes the league's worst (Lions), third-worst (Cardinals) and ninth-worst (Jaguars) defenses at stopping quarterbacks. And the toughest game (against the Giants) probably doesn't count in your league because it's in Week 17.
With Adrian Peterson starting to roll, every defense the Vikings will see from here on out will assign at least one safety to shadow him. That's going to create a lot of long-pass opportunities, especially with Bernard Berrian available on the receiving end.
Frerotte isn't going to win you a championship, but plug him in at any point and he just might keep you in the race.
