Pick up a new tight end each week.

It's Tuesday morning and there's a running back or wide receiver you're dying to snatch off the waiver wire. The only problem is: You really don't have anybody you can afford to waive.

Here's a thought: Waive your tight end.

Yes, even if you only have one.

Depth at the tight end position is such that you can always find a good one on the waiver wire at the end of the week. So why waste a roster spot on one during the week when you could pick up a more valuable player?

Example: The Bengals' Chris Henry figures to play a significant role in the Cincinnati passing game at some point this season. That makes him a valuable commodity off the waiver wire.

So pick him up and drop your tight end.

Now you can start shopping around. Maybe acquiring Henry allows you to deal another of your receivers for help elsewhere. Or maybe there's another owner who wanted Henry, only to get aced out by your astute move. This guy might offer you something useful.

The point is: Picking up a talent like Henry gives you options. And if, by the end of the week, you haven't been able to take advantage of these options, you could always waive him again and pick up a tight end to play Sunday.

This week, Oakland's Zach Miller would be a great last-minute claim. Next week, there'll be someone else.

How does Miller stack up among all tight ends this week? Click here to find out.
