Cherish Stephen Gostkowski.
There's a general feeling in the fantasy game that all kickers are alike. This stems from the fact there is very little consistency among kickers because their playing time is always dictated by factors out of their control.
But this, in turn, has led to a great opportunity for Gostkowski, and he's making the most of it. Or at least he's on the verge of doing so.
First off, in terms of pure talent, the New England kicker is as good as they get. He's accurate from short distance, powerful from long range.
But what makes Gostkowski stand out among all kickers right now is the current state of the Patriot offense.
With Matt Cassel getting more comfortable with all the weapons at his disposal, New England is in the process of re-establishing itself as a Top 10 offense. But with an inexperienced quarterback and a subpar running game, it will never reach the elite-level status it enjoyed under Tom Brady.
In other words, the New England offense has gone from a touchdown-churning machine to a unit just good enough to get into scoring territory time after time. That should produce fewer touchdowns and more field goals, which is what makes Gostkowski so valuable.
If you have him, lock him into the starting lineup. If you don't, I suggest trying to sneak him into your next trade offer. You'll be glad you did.
