Don't overgeneralize.
There are those who try to make fantasy football simple by applying blanket rules to the game. Always draft running backs early. Offset an opponent's star quarterback by putting his chief receiver in your lineup. Stuff like that.
One popular belief is to put at least one player in your lineup from the Sunday- or Monday-night game. The thinking being: If you happen to be behind after Sunday's daylight action, you'll still have a chance to catch up.
And watching one of your guys on TV is kinda fun.
I say: Avoid this kind of thinking.
While the Patriots-Colts matchup Sunday night has all the right ingredients for a fantasy-friendly outcome (high-scoring teams, struggling defenses and indoor game), Monday's meeting of the Steelers and Redskins is the polar opposite (two good defensive teams, outdoors at night). If you're playing Jeff Reed or Shaun Suisham in the Week 9 finale just because he's playing on Monday, you're making a big mistake.
Bottom line: Play your best players. If that's not enough, then you deserve to lose.
