Few players had a roller-coaster ride the likes of the one Larry Fitzgerald had this off-season.
It began on top of the world, having almost single-handedly driven the lowly Cardinals to the Super Bowl before nearly delivering one of the most improbable championships in NFL history.
But then came the inevitable fall.
First, Kurt Warner was talking retirement. Then, he was talking to the 49ers.
All along, Anquan Boldin was being dangled for a draft pick.
For a while there, it appeared Fitzgerald would return as a marked man, double-teamed everywhere he went, with Matt Leinart throwing to him. Or somewhere in his general vicinity, anyway.
Alas, it's July and it's fun to be Larry Fitzgerald again.
Warner has returned to the Cardinals, and it appears Boldin will be there, too.
On top of that, the team used its first pick on a keep-defenses-honest running back (Beanie Wells), and returns one of the best third receivers in the league in Steve Breaston.
Fitzgerald was the No. 1 receiver in the fantasy game last year, and probably would be this year as well if Tom Brady were still hurt. But he's not, and that vaults Randy Moss back to the top of the ratings.
But Fitzgerald isn't far behind. He's definitely a first-round pick.
