Identifying the top two wide receivers in Fantasy Football 2009 is easy. You might dispute the order, but clearly Randy Moss and Larry Fitzgerald stand out above the rest.
Choosing the third-best isn't easy at all. In fact, it's so close between four or five guys, the best draft strategy will be waiting to pick the last man standing among the group rather than rushing out to take the first.
I doubt Steve Smith will be available after Andre Johnson, Wes Welker, Calvin Johnson and Terrell Owens are drafted. But I don't think he'll be the first of the group taken, either.
Like last year, Smith is a bit underrated. He will almost assuredly fall farther in your draft than he should, and that makes him a good choice.
Put Smith with Tom Brady or Kurt Warner and he'd be first or second on my draft list. He's that good a talent.
With Jake Delhomme, he's still good enough to rank second. Or have you already forgotten his brilliant 2008 season, when he rallied to the fifth-best receiver numbers after missing the first two games on suspension?
He's that good, people.
