NBA.com installed a countdown which tracks the days left before the regular season will begin, down to the very minute. Thankfully, for Wizards fans, preseason action kicks off in just 21 days on Comcast, and their first Verizon Center home game will come three days later.
The Wizards first home game, a preseason matchup vs. Detroit, will occur in...24 days...1 hour...and 4 minutes. Everyone should be ready to play for the Wizards, although big men Oleksiy Pecherov and Etan Thomas might take it easy due to recovery from injuries. The matchup should also feature some returns by Detroit's "Rip" Hamilton and Kwame Brown, both former Wizards.
I hope to see you all there!
Of course, NBA tickets are a tricky beast. The majority of key match-ups have sold out prior to 9/15 due to season package deals, and the tickets left after presales began on 9/15 are pretty much mid-high level 400s. Still, being there is being there. I liked how I got a code from the Wizards Wire for presales at 8:45 p.m. last night, when presales began 9 a.m. yesterday morning. Tricky, indeed. But such is the draw of celebrity, of both local and foreign talent, blended together to form what we know as the most competitive, exciting league of basketball this world has to offer. And if all else fails...maybe StubHub?![]()
