In Washington's loss yesterday in Detroit, Wizards forward Antawn Jamison suffered what was then called a "sprained left thumb." He would play the rest of the game, and finish with a double-double.
Now that the superman-adrenaline from the game has expired, it is possible Jamison will ride the bench due to an upgraded, "strained left thumb."
What the Wizards lose in Jamison is a walking double-double machine, which brings us to the question, who replaces Jamison at PF?
First, to answer that question, another question: will Etan Thomas play on Friday? Coach Ed Tapscott likes Darius Songaila and Dominic McGuire, but I'd lean on an Andray Blatche/Songaila C/PF situation to go along with Caron Butler, DeShawn Stevenson, and Mike James as point. The problem here is who do you rotate for center if Songaila is used for PF.
In other words, expect a little bit of "small ball" on Friday, with both Jamison probable due to his thumb, and for the Philadelphia 76ers, no Elton Brand for at least a month.
