When you're pregnant and alone, you're thinking for two!

When women hold out for the right guy, the special guy, and finally commit to him (whether he knows or not), visions of children may run through her mind. She may even talk about it to him while he nods and smiles, staring at the opening in her blouse.
Or perhaps she’s intoxicated and they share an intimate conversation, leading her to think she’s finally found someone who understands, and lets her guard down. Either way, the next morning is an awkward one with the guy pulling the door off the hinges to escape.
In the first instance, his princess is lying in bed daydreaming of wedding bells… while in the second, the guy realizes he needs to think of a good excuse to explain to his wife where he was all night. It’s the Jolly Rancher, either way, kids. But now the real fun begins by first finding out… because an unplanned pregnancy without the commitment isn’t very fun.
Men in this situation tend to believe the woman has “asked for it.” They forget about being the other half of the wishbone and believe the woman should figure it out because the situation is all about her. Men have a difficult time thinking about the baby as being “real” because they can’t see it. It’s all sort of a psychological difference in the genders, although there are more men in the OB/Gyn office than there used to be.
The options sound so easy, but when faced head-on, they may not be so simply decided. This isn’t to say there are not options, because there are. The child can be raised in a one-parent home, in daycare because the parent is always working to pay the bills; an abortion can be performed which causes risks, physically and psychologically; or you can give the baby up for adoption, wondering for the rest of your life if the child in the grocery store ahead of you used to be yours because when she smiled, she sort of looks like you.
The long and short of it is, instead of having to make these difficult decisions, avoid them. Be a good Girl Scout and “Always be Prepared!”
