Not much in the way of Cal football news today.

There were a few game telecasts announced Wednesday, bringing the total officially to six so far.  Expect to see the Bears on television every week they play after today's announcement.  Well, at least all except for the Washington State game - I won't go out on a ledge for that one.

The Eastern Washington, Washington, and Minnesota games will all be televised, with Eastern Washington the biggest question mark of the season - as far as television.

For those of you that are still unhappy with last year's Maryland game starting at 9:00 AM PST, you'll have another game this season that may cause a little controversy...just not as much as last year.

The Bears will be playing at Minnesota starting at 9:00 AM for either ESPN or ESPN 2.  For those of you not up on your time zones, that's 11:00 AM CDT.  So, the Bears won't be at a three hours disadvantage like last season, but at 9:00 AM any disadvantage is a big one if you're not a morning person.

Here's the television schedule so far:

DATE OPPONENT TV TIME (PST)
9/5 Maryland ESPN 2 7:00 PM
9/12 Eastern Washington CSN California 2:30 PM
9/19 @ Minnesota ESPN or ESPN 2 9:00 AM
9/26 @ Oregon ABC 12:30 PM
10/3 USC ABC 5:00 PM
10/17 @ UCLA TBA TBA
10/24 Washington State TBA TBA
10/31 @ Arizona State TBA TBA
11/7 Oregon State TBA TBA
11/14 Arizona TBA TBA
11/21 @ Stanford TBA TBA
12/5 @ Washington CSN California / FSN Northwest 3:30 PM

I just realized this for the first time and was curious if anyone else had pondered Cal's game at Arizona State on Halloween.  For those not familiar with Sun Devil Stadium on Halloween, it's probably the craziest night of the year at Arizona State.  A Cal victory may make it a very hollow Halloween for Sun Devils fans.

Update on Marsh

Cal is still big on the defensive tackle's list.  According to ESPN.com, he's trimmed his list down to four schools: Cal, USC, LSU, and Oklahoma.

Here's a little of what he had to say about it:

Cal is still my No. 1 school.  I've said this before but when I decided to re-open my recruitment, it was nothing against Cal. I just felt like I committed so early, I didn't have a chance to look any other schools. So I wanted to open things up to give everyone a fair shot but I'm basically down to four schools right now.

Cal, USC, LSU and Oklahoma are the four I have on top. I was just at Cal a few weeks ago and I love it down there. They had a camp going on and I worked out one day but I was there mostly to just walk around the campus and spent a lot of time with Tosh so that was cool.

Speaking of Recruiting

Looks like the Bear Backers who are also 49ers fans are going to have to root against Montana. -  Nick Montana.  The son of the legend from across the bay will be facing the Bears as a Washington Husky.  The 13th-ranked QB chose Washington earlier this month after Jake Heaps chose not to go up North.

And for those of you that may not of heard, the son of Jerry Rice, Jerry Rice Jr., is supposed to be walking on at UCLA.  If both of those guys turn out to be like their fathers, it could help make the Pac-10 an even tougher conference in a couple of years.

It's all about you guys - even if it means sending  you elsewhere

Jahvid Best will be doing a live chat for Jonathan Okanes of Bear Talk on Thursday June 25th at 1:30 PM PST.  I'll be a little cheesy and give you the link to Cal's press release.  Fair enough?
