Another Cal player will represent the Golden Bears in international competition when the U.S. Women's hoops team plays at the 2009 World University Games, July 1-11 in Belgrade, Serbia.

USA Basketball announced the team today.  Alexis Gray-Lawson was the only Golden Bear selected to the team that will have three players from UConn and two from Stanford.

It's likely that Stanford would've had a third player make the team had All-American center Jayne Appel not pulled out for knee surgery.  The Stanford players that made the team are forward Kayla Pedersen and guard Jeanette Pohlen.

Gray-Lawson is excited about the opportunity:

I'm just excited for the chance to go to Serbia.  I have never been, and I'm just ready to go.
