Examiner.com released their first basketball polls of the season and both Cal basketball teams were listed on their respective polls.
A look back to how I voted tends to border on homerism, but I'm going to stick with where I ranked the Bears' teams until I see proof otherwise.
For the Women, I ranked them ninth when I voted. I realize that with so many freshmen on the team, that was a bit of a stretch, but they have some really good frosh players this year.
The rest of my fellow examiners weren't as optimistic and the final tally put the Golden Bears at #16 for the preseason. You can check the poll out at our polls page by clicking here.
On the men's side of things, I ranked Cal 10th, but mostly because there should be at least one Pac-10 team in the top 10. A sign of my uncertainty of Cal being the top Pac-10 team was my ranking of Washington at No. 12 and UCLA at No. 18.
The only two Pac-10 teams that made the Examiner.com poll was #13 Cal and #14 Washington. Apparently, I'm not the only one apprehensive about ranking Cal as the top team in the Pac-10. Now, before you hammer me about that apprehension, I have three words to describe why: NO BIG MAN.
