We are coming near the end of this weeks' Bear Tracks. We've already posted the men's and women's updates, but these are the updates that involve sports where the teams are mixed-gender or the events have to do with both men's and women's teams. So without further ado:

Swimming - Cal swimming got a huge boost, or actually USA-swimming did, when five Bears were named to the team to compete at the 2009 World University Games held in Belgrade, Serbia.
The swimmers were selected due to their performances at the 2008 USA Swimming U.S. Open Championships last July 29-Aug 2.
For the men, Sean Mahoney and William Copeland will make the trip. The Junior Mahoney, specializes in the breast stroke and took 3rd in the 200 meter event at the U.S. Open. Copeland, finished his elegibility last year as a Pac-10 champion in the 50 meter and 100 meter freestyle took second in his specialty.
For the women, Madison Kennedy, Lauren Rogers, and Amanda Sims all earned spots on the national team competing next July in Belgrade. Kennedy won the gold in the 50 meter freestyle and the silver in the 100 meter at the U.S. Open. Rogers earned a bronze at the Open in the backstroke. Sims also received a bronze medal at the U.S. Open in the 100 meter butterfly event.
All members of the World University Games team roster are pending final approval by the USOC. For more information on the U.S. National team, click here.
