Matheson Hammock Park

Here is a recent email question I received from a reader:

Q. Me and my fiancé are thinking about getting married in Miami early next year (we´re from sweden). But it's just the 2 of us so we just want a very secluded place to get married at. Maybe in a beautiful park or at the beach or something. Do you know any beautiful secluded spots that are for free or really cheap?

Best regards,
Helena and Dennis

Dear Helena and Dennis,

Congrats on your upcoming wedding. Miami is a great destination to host your even.  I am totally on the same page about choosing a beautiful outdoor venue for little cost to you.  I would suggest visiting Miami Dade's Parks and Recreation website for information on all the beautiful parks in the area.

One idea is to host your event at Matheson Hammock Park Beach located 9610 Old Cutler Road.  Matheson Hammock Park is a lovely scenic park with an unusual feature--a man-made atoll pool, which is flushed naturally with the tidal action of nearby Biscayne Bay. Its tranquil breeze-swept beach is a haven for families who enjoy its warm, safe waters and beautiful waterside views. The park also has a full-service marina, snack bar and restaurant built into an historic coral rock building, picnic pavilions and nature trails. Matheson also contains a sailing and power boat school.  The Picnic Shelter Rate is $160.00 for a maximum of 100 guests.

You can follow the ceremony with dinner at one of Miami’s top waterfront restaurants, the Red Fish Grill located in Matheson Hammock Park right on the bay. You’ll get delicious food, great service and a wonderful casual, yet romantic atmosphere.

A special thanks goes out to my significant other for suggesting Matheson Hammock Park for this Miami destination wedding!
