Kathy Najimy has the upper hand with Susan(Teri Hatcher)/abc

WARNING: This article contains potential spoilers to the storylines of Desperate Houewives.

In recent weeks, Katherine (Dana DeLaney) has continued to show signs of an upcoming mental breakdown.  Katherine's unstable nature prompts Susan (Teri Hatcher) to rethink Katherine's potential involvement in Julie's (Andrea Bowen) recent attack.  With renewed suspicions, Susan seeks police involvement.  What Susan doesn't expect is which member of the police force comes to her side.  Enter Kathy Najimy as Police Captain DiPira.  It seems that Susan and the policewoman share a past themselves, having known each other in high school when Susan stole the future Captain's boyfriend.  As per usual on DH, it is revealed that Najimy's character has bottled up resentment for Susan all these years and might take this chance reunion to exact some revenge.  Because of their past, Susan tries to get her kicked off the case.  When that doesn't work, Susan tries to convince her that she did her a favor, assuming the guy ended up being a loser.  Instead, he is a millionaire, further complicating matters between Susan and the detective. Susan ends up getting arrested.

Bree and Orson (Kyle MacLachlin) attend a  tense dinner with the Bolens, which may result in a new partnership for Bree and the always outsider Bolens.  With Katherine no longer working for her, Bree (Marcia Cross)  is on her own when potential new Italian clients for her catering business seek her assistance.  In an attempt to secure the job, Bree pretends to be Italian-American hoping to win over the family's trust and party job.

Speaking of the Bolens, Lynette (Felicity Huffman) learns of Julie's affair with Nick (Jeffrey Nordling).  She then confronts Nick, under the guise of asking him for gardening tips, she then warns him to stay away from Julie.  Nick doesn't take this warning calmly, as he threatens Lynette if she tells anyone else about the affair.  This prompts Lynette's suspicions about the identity of Julie's attacker to grow. She then informs Tom (Doug Savant) of her suspicions.

Lynette isn't the only housewife Nick goes toe to toe with this week, as his own wife, Angie (Drea de Mateo)--who has plenty of secrets of her own--confronts her husband about a secret he has been keeping from her.  Before tonight's episode is over, Nick ends up getting punched in the face.

In recent week's Gaby (Eva Longoria-Parker) and Carlos' (Ricardo Antonio Chavira) daughter Juanita (Madison de la Garza) has been front and center in the storyline, having gotten into trouble for ruff-housing a neighborhood kid, resulting in a birthday party gone awry.  Just last week, Juanita used a certain four-letter word while appearing in the school play, thus getting kicked out of school.  This week, Gaby continue having trouble homeschooling Juanita. Carlos walks in on Gaby trying to explain fractions by threatening to cut up Juanita's doll into pieces.  He offers to hire a part time housekeeper to allow Gaby more time to concentrate on Juanita's schooling.  Of course Gaby would rather he hire a tutor.  When she learns that their new Eastern European maid Ivana has a Ph. D., she turns to her for teaching assistance.  The maid agrees, but to keep Carlos in the dark, Gaby must take up the slack where the housecleaning is concerned.  This leads to a funny scene as Gaby attempts to scrub the floors.

In Desperate Housewives casting news:

Look for Dan Castellaneta, who voices many characters on The Simpsons, to play a pilot in an upcoming pivotal episode.

Katherine's daughter, Dylan, played by Lyndsy Fonseca was last seen in Season Four when the true identity of her father was revealed.  Seems the wayward daughter will return later this year, most likely when Katherine totally looses it and is checked into a mental facility.

Also, this week, Kathryn Joosten, who plays Mrs. McCluskey revealed during a visit to ABC's hen-peck, The View that her recent real life reoccurrence of cancer may very well figure into a future storyline.  She also indicated that the rumored Desperate spin-off where she would co-star along with Lily Tomlin as Mrs. McCluskey's sister is still a very good possibility.
