Taylor Swift and Saturday Night Live's Bill Hader in promos for the show

WARNING! Portions of the embedded SNL promos  may contain humor not suitable for Taylor's younger fans or those with no sense of homor!

As reported last month in Taylor Swift continues to prove she's 'Fearless', the young songstress will report for duty as not only the host, but also the musical guest on this weekend's Saturday Night Live. Upon initial consideration, the popular teenage country sensation may seem a bit of an odd choice for such a task, but consider the facts.

Since her 2006 debut, she's produced two internationally successful albums, dated a Jonas Brother, has recently been linked to Twilight star, Taylor Lautner, endeared herself at numerous awards shows by going on an on during her acceptance speeches about how "dreams come true,"  sang about Tim McGraw, sang with Colbie Caillat (Breathe), Kellie Pickler (Best Days of Your Life), the aforementioned JoBros (Should've Said No), Boys Like Girls (Two is Better Than One), Miley Cyrus (a cameo role in The Hannah Montana Movie) and even rapped with T-Pain (Thug Story, a parody of her hit Love Story created especially for the CMT Awards).  Oh yeah and there was that VMA incident with Kanye West.

Taking all that into consideration, there's plenty of material for the writers of SNL to chose from.   Since the announcement that Taylor would not only provide the music but also serve as host, rumors have been flying with conjecture about what aspects of the young singer's personal and professional life might wind up as part of SNL skits.  Will Kanye himself make an appearance, what about the JoBros or Taylor Lautner? Or Kellie Pickler or Miley? Surprise guests appearances or not, if the promos for the show are any indication, this weekend's stint on the show should prove to be very funny.  As of late, this season's SNL has contained some of the funnier moments in the show's more recent history, and the musical guests have been a big part of that.  Case in point, Lady GaGa and Madonna's hilarious SNL skit back at the beginning of October..

For her turn at hosting/musical guest, the promos feature Taylor and SNL cast member Bill Hader chatting in the hallways of SNL's 30 Rockefeller Center.  In the first clip, Taylor goes on about how she never stops, confirming Hader's suspicions that she's a robot.  The second clip is the most obvious, as Hader interrupts Taylor when he receives a call on his cell, saying, "Kanye just called and he thinks Beyonce should host."  The third is the most bawdy of the promos when Hader asks Taylor if she wants to see a picture of his baby, instead he shows a photo of something all-together different.  Side Note: Hader and his wife Maggie did indeed celebrate the birth of their first child back in September.

More about Taylor

Since her 2006 self-titled debut, she's taken the music world by storm, starting with her first Top Ten hit, Tim McGraw, which peaked at #6 on the Billboard charts.  The song was the first of 5 singles to hit the charts from the 3x Platinum selling debut CD.  Her initial release and her 2008 sophomore effort, Fearless continued to provide success and power her rise to fame making her the biggest selling artist in the US for 2008.  With Fearless finishing 2008 in the #3 position and her self-titled CD in the #6 spot, Taylor became the first artist in the history of Nielsen SoundScan to have two albums in the Top Ten at year's end.

Fearless continued it's reign, as it spent 11 non-consecutive weeks as Billboard's #1 album on their Top 200 chart--another record breaker, not matched since 1999-2000.  By 2009, Taylor had racked up honors for being the first female artist in country music to be in the #1 spot for 8 weeks, as well as the first country artist to top the 2 million download mark for digital downloads--from three of her hits.  By February of 09, Taylor's Love Story single broke records again as it became the song with the most paid downloads in digital music history.

Love Story also broke Taylor's own records by charting within the Top Ten charts worldwide in a total of 11 major international markets.  Among those 11 Top Ten's were 5 visits at the #1 spot.  Of course it went #1 on the US Country charts, but it also rose to the top on US Adult Contemporary, two Canadian charts--Country and AC, as well as sailing to the top in Australia.

Among her numerous accolades, Taylor has won an American Music Award, a Nashville Songwriters Award, a CMA Award, a Young Hollywood Award, a Canadian CMA Award.  She's also a three-time winner at the Teen Choice Awards, the Nashville Music Awards, and the Academy of Country Music Awards and a five-time winner at the CMT Awards

With the recent release of Fearless: Platinum Edition, a Taylor Guitar named in her honor, and a really good shot at all four CMA Awards she's nominated at next Wednesday's big event, chances are Taylor will finish out 2009 with still more trophies and record breaking sales that ever before.
