Age of Conan update

Update 5 for Age of Conan is called "Gangs of Tarantia" and it has brought many changes to Hyboria.

A new outdoor area for levels 75 and up is the Tarantia Common District.  Here players can experience solo and group quests, instances, and deep RPG elements.  The link provides information on key areas of the district and details on features touched on here.

For guild cities this update brings NPCs in your building including guards at the gate.  Interestingly, for your tradepost it means pros,

  • Tier I: A food and drink merchant, as well as business-savvy whores.
  • Tier II: A Potions vendor, one of the new Provisioner vendors who sell crates with bulk consumables, a Tradeskill supplier, and a new local merchant who has a new social pet for sale from the region.
  • Tier III: The local merchant expands his or her wares to include two more pets, a wagoner to Conarch Village and a wagoner to Khemi.

Changes to classes are plentiful in this overview for update 5.  Each of the four archetypes have a crucial change including: all soldier types can wear plate, priests' casting times on health buffs are quicker to cast, rogues should last longer in combat, and mages' pets will scale in power with their masters.  The full release notes are here.

Lastly, Craig Morrison, the Game Director for AoC, talks about the update and the future of the game.  He touches on an AoC expansion but merely mentions it.  We'll have to wait for more information on that.  He does talk about more content though,

In addition we will have new content as we move on to looking at the addition of new high level content for both groups and raids in the majestic halls of the House of Crom. The team is preparing some really fantastic game-play suitable for such an epic location.
