How to find an apartment in Long Beach, CA
Long Beach brings to mind a very nostalgic emotion in me. I have lived in this city all my life and it never ceases to amaze me. Long Beach is an amazing town that is lush in culture. It is a city that contains the crux of its style and remains true to charm and a genuine sense of propriety. I have met quite a few people new in town and I felt it was my duty to give them a little bit of insight and so, henceforth, here are some tips on finding an apartment. I welcome you to Long Beach.
1) Don’t judge a book by its cover:
Say you’re in a neighborhood that you’re not quite fond of, and you happen to come across a For Rent sign. You think to yourself, well the price looks nice but this area may not be for me. Take a chance and check the place out. There are times where a very nice apartment with certain amenities that are well worth the neighborhood can be found. A lot of apartments are usually renovated before a new owner begins a lease and you can find newer places even within older buildings. Deal with the no parking and the angry, drunk couple next door for the hardwood floors and second bathroom.
2) Check the local papers:
To find tons of apartments for rent without having to pay to view the lists, be sure to peruse Long Beach’s local paper the
Grunion Gazette. The classifieds is a huge section full of recent rentals and gets updated quite often. Even better is the fact that these lists are printed online in the newspapers’ online edition. If you’re near Cal State Long Beach, pick up the
Daily 49er, they also have a valuable classified section great for college students.
3) If all else fails, go to the top Property Management companies:
Renting from a big property management has its ups and downs. Yet if you can’t find a place renting from the sweet old lady who doesn’t mind the noise, then go for the top dogs who have equally great listings.
Pabst, Kinney, and Associates manage properties throughout most of Long Beach and even some areas surrounding it. You can find various apartments with a wide range of rental price in areas such as Belmont Shore, Belmont Heights, Bluff Park, Downtown, and many others. Another is
Centennial Properties that manages a large part of Long Beach as well.
Palazzo Realty, and
Pacific Property Assets are slightly smaller companies that are also great resources and manage good locations.
So when you find this place of yours…I’m invited to the party right?
