There is no stopping Crystal Chappell, Kim Turrisi and Hope Royaltey, the co-creators/co-producers of the much anticipated web series titled Venice. Fans of Guiding Light's Otalia are waiting for the launch date of the series scheduled to come to an Internet connection near you sometime this fall.
This particular venture embarked upon by Chappell and her sidekicks was born after the cancellation of Guiding Light and the reaction of Otalia fans to the same sex love story portrayed by Olivia (Chappell) and Natalia (Jessica Leccia). The lack of intimacy between Olivia and Natalia as dictated by the CBS network super powers after months of the quiet and slow suggestive foreplay between the two women left many scratching their heads. The 'no kiss' clause seemingly embedded into a policy written by the Eyeball Network left several fans more than disappointed regarding the way the Otalia storyline played out.
"Kiss now" became the mantra of more than a few invested viewers.
Crystal Chappell was so moved by the legion of devoted Otalia fans she decided to take matters into her own hands. After securing herself a new soaps gig over at Days of our Lives once Guiding Light was canceled and there was no hope for that show to live on in another venue, she decided to give back to her GL fans by creating a web series that promises to lure viewers from all circles of life whether they happen to be members of the gay and lesbian community or hail from the heterosexual side of the street.
In short, Chappell appreciates the devotion of her fans and their stories. She cares about her audience and has not only invested in them by producing this series, but she has also invited them to express opinions about the direction Venice the series will take. Chappell wants your opinions and it just doesn't get any better than that. She simply cannot fail with this venture.
