'We Love Soaps' editor Roger Newcomb makes an appeal to 'P&G'

Surely the news is grim today for fans of Guiding Light but if Proctor & Gamble is seriously dedicated to finding a new home for this show they should be taking advice from Roger Newcomb over at We Love Soaps.  

Anyone who reads Newcomb knows he has always been vocal about prime time sudser Friday Night Lights who managed to find a new home or two of its own, so it should come as no surprise that he would champion the 'Springfield Light' as well.  Newcomb is passionate about the shows he likes and GL is clearly one of them.

Newcomb had this to say about the CBS decision to end the show by September 18th:

GUIDING LIGHT has been on a creative upswing for several months now. Now is not the time to let the show die despite today's official cancellation by CBS. Procter & Gamble should pursue alternative approaches for keeping the alive."
