James Giddens over at "Daytime Confidential" just couldn't keep quiet, and rightly so, about the interview Ken Corday (DOOL executive producer) gave to "Soap Opera Digest" this week in its cover story feature regarding the firing of Diedre Hall (Marlena) and Drake Hogestyn (John Black), two long term actors who for years, have been icons in the fictional town of Salem thus racking up a huge fan base along the way.
Giddens aptly told it like it is citing that Corday laid his budgetary woes at the feet of the actors. You have to read this one to believe it. I applaud Giddens for a great piece on the situation over at DOOL and appreciated the fact that he wondered why the soap magazines are going to the 'NBC suits" for their breaking news that seems to come out in a series of carefully prepared statements, as opposed to the actors. Face it, it's the actors and the fans who are the clear victims here in the wake of this nightmare in Salem.
You have to wonder if Ken Corday singed on for a reduced salary to save his beloved show.
