A few days ago, after pleading guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct, Benjamin Delacruz Ajqui was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the rape of a 14-year-old girl. The attack took place this past summer, amidst a pastoral setting in central Minnesota.

On the afternoon of July 28, 2009, the teenaged victim was riding her bicycle along the Lake Wobegon Trail, when she encountered Ajqui. The Mexican national, who was also riding a bike, grabbed the girl and shoved her down into a ditch, where he raped her.

Ajqui fled the scene and was later captured in a nearby cornfield.

At the time, Stearns County Sheriff John Tanner told reporters: "The suspect responsible for this, I'm sure waited for this young girl to get into a secluded area where he couldn't see anybody else on the trail system and took advantage of that opportunity.”

In 2006, Debra Schurman-Kauflin of the Violent Crimes Institute, in Atlanta, GA, examined the criminal histories of 1,500 illegal alien sex offenders, the study produced some startling results.

-Of the 1,500 offenders examined in this study, each one had an average of four victims, for a total of about 6,000 victims over an 88-month period.

-Schurman-Kauflin estimated there were 960,000 sex crimes committed by illegal aliens between January, 1999 and April, 2006.

-22 percent of the victims were either mentally or physically handicapped, and all disabled victims were under the age of 18.

-Of the 1,500 cases studied, 35 percent were child molestations, 24 percent were rapes, and 41 percent were sexual homicides.

-70 percent of the victims were American citizens, while 30 percent of the victims were themselves inside the country illegally.

In the report, Schurman-Kauflin states that "the illegal immigrants typically gained access to the victims after having worked as a day laborer at or near the victims' homes. Victims ranged in age from one-year-old to 13-years-old, with the average age being six."

She went on to say: "It is clear that the U.S. public faces a dangerous threat from sex predators who cross the U.S. borders illegally. What's more, then they gradually commit worse crimes and are continually released back into society or deported. Those who were deported simply returned illegally again."

*Reporter’s note: This case truly demonstrates that illegal immigration and the human cost of allowing our border to remain unprotected is no longer a regional problem, limited to the American Southwest. It is a problem which now affects the entire country, and endangers the safety of every American.

How many more children must be victimized before our elected representatives begin to take seriously the defense of this nation?

How much innocence must be lost, as cheap labor and potential votes are placed above the lives of our children?

The answers to those aforementioned questions, lie not with the politicians who have sold us out to the highest bidder, but with us, the American people.
