Robots are the focus of the day, so let’s look back and see what robots have influenced science fiction the most.

Here are the top 5!

5.  Cylons (Battlestar Galactica)
The evolution of the Cylons has been impressive.  From the 1980s Cylon Centurion to the new sleek Cylon Centurion, to the 12 model of Cylons that actually look and act like humans.  Cylons can’t be left off any list of robots that have influenced sci-fi.

4.  Robby the Robot (Forbidden Planet)
Another icon of classic sci-fi is Robby the Robot.  His influence spread across movies and tv series for years.  He was even ‘big brother’ to the robot on Lost in Space.  The one that started it all just had to be in the top five.

3.  T-800 (The Terminator movies)
Unstoppable, the T-800 is goal oriented to the end.  How can you look so fierce and be so good?

2.  R2-D2 (Star Wars movies)
Everyone wants a bot like R2-D2.  He’s loyal, intelligent, can fix just about anything, and you don’t have to feed or walk him.  That’s as good as it gets.

And at number 1  ---

1. Autobots (Transformers animated series and movies)
The Autobots stand for bravery, loyalty, and honor.  Their influence has been phenomenal to say the least.  For years they rule in animation and toys, now they have moved into top movie spots.  Optimus Prime and Bumblebee are the two most loved of all Autobots.  The Transformers have been the most influential robots of this generation.

If you love robots, who is your all-time favorite?
