Star Wars Weekend at Hollywood Studios will premiere lots of new merchandise for 2009.  The toys this year are particularly fun.

I got a first look at all these great toys at the recent FX Show in Orlando, where two Disney representatives revealed pictures and secrets about this year's Star Wars Weekends.

Two  Star Wars banks will be released this year. The Stormtrooper helmet is around 10″ in diameter and sculpted by Gentle Giant.  Mickey and Minnie join the fight with their own bank.

Following in the footsteps of Darth Tater and Spud Trooper come three more variations of Mr. Potato Head.  This year's characters will be C-3PotatO, Yoda and Chewbacca.

Star Wars Racers (Hot Wheels-sized vehicles) will rule the road this year.  First and foremost is a  special Darth Vader carrying case that holds 17 Racers and contains 15 Racers.  It will include 5 Racers that are only available in this set!  The price will be $49.95. Individual cars retail for $4.95 so this is a third off AND you get the case. New in the Disney Racers line of die-cast cars are five Star Wars-themed racers, including Watto, Lando in disguise, an Ewok, Boba Fett, and an AT-AT.  There will also be 1:24 scale RC cars in Darth Vader and Darth Maul styles.

These are the racers that will only be available with the Darth Vader carrying case.

R2D2 will get his own lightchaser this year.

For puzzle lovers everywhere, puzzles will be available of classic posters replacing Star Wars characters with Disney characters.  One puzzle will feature Kermit the Frog as Luke, Miss Piggy as Leia, Gonzo as Dark Vader and Beeker-3PO.  Another is styled after the 1-year Anniversary birthday cake poster celebrating Star Tours with a circle of Star Tours action figures. Currently all these are going to be only available as puzzles, not regular posters.
