The Secret Garden, performed through Assumption's Rose Theatre Company, is based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Mary was orphaned and living with her uncle Archibald. She discovered a garden that used to belong to Lily, Archibald's late wife. Mary tends to the garden herself and, in the process, brings about a sense of life and love.
The Broadway play, written by Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon, debuted at the St. James Theatre in 1991 and ran for at least 700 shows.
Other shows to come from Assumption during the 2009-2010 school year include the BLOOM Theatre Project and You Can't Take It With You.
