Showers and thunderstorm will dominate the forecast as we head into your day on Tuesday.

Monday afternoon began the trend towards a more humid and sticky feel to the state.  A stationary front situated over the northern half of the state has allowed for warm moist air to punch into parts of central and southern New Jersey.  By tuesday morning a few showers will just be clearing the area setting up for a day featuring sunshine along with high humidity.  The higher humidity and dew point readings will be enough to cause instability which in turn will allow for a few heavy thunderstorms.  As it appears now the greatest threat for severe weather will be located over our western sections of the state from Camden county, NJ to western Sussex county along the delaware river.  This strong heating of the day coupled with 500 mb temperate around -12C will contribute to MLcapes over 1500 joules.  Soundings suggest we hit 3000 joules over our southern sections where the heating will become more intense.  The storm prediction center maintains a slight risk for severe storms which in essence means a higher risk for thunderstorms with a elevated risk of those storms becoming severe.  Keep an eye to the sky if venturing out to your local beaches.
