When thinking of Texas, many people picture dry, scrubby desert filled with lots of dirt, snakes and cowboys. Just last weekend, Texas on Tour came to New York's own South Street Seaport, showing locals that Texas has much more to offer. As I am going to Texas this evening, I thought I'd continue in that vein and highlight a more metropolitan side of the Lone Star State.
Though it may come as a surprise to some, there is much more to do in Texas on Friday nights than watch football. The Houston Museum of Natural Science comes to life with its Mixers & Elixirs event. A cash bar, live band, and DJ will have you dancing around dinosaur bones. The entrance fee of $15 ($13 for members) covers free appetizers, musical entertainment, and an IMAX movie. This summer series of intelligent nightlife begins this Friday, June 5th.
