The Atomic Café in Beverly (and now Marblehead) offers great, freshly prepared coffee that they roast, grind and brew on premises. The Cabot St. location is small, but packs in a lot of character, and flavor.
Decked out like a classic diner, Atomic may seem like a blast from the past, but there’s nothing antiquated about what they serve. Along with a substantial sandwich and salad menu packed with tasty items like the Turkey Cordon Bleu, you’ll find a bevy of baked goods including cupcakes from the nearby, world-famous Cupcake Café. Food is top-notch and very reasonably priced.
The Atomic Café is a longstanding favorite among Beverly locals and a great place to refill the fuel tank with caffeine and food, but probably not a great place to have your karma re-tooled. Loud music and louder décor make Atomic a little too intense for meeker souls or those just wishing to relax.
The coffee itself is straightforward stuff, succeeding by its freshness and quality. Each bean seems to be a labor of love, and you can taste the difference in their local roast. Overall, I would recommend Atomic to any coffee lover. If you have a problem with the ambiance, get it to go.
