Just days from Halloween, and I find myself drinking a wheat beer while the temperature dips deep into the Autumn season. In early October Anheuser-Busch Inc. rolled out their newest creation "Bud Light Golden Wheat." Keith Levy, vice president of marketing, told the St. Louis Post Dispatch that the goal would be to attract drinkers between the age of 25 and 44. While A-B's goal is for the mature drinker, I have seen Golden Wheat being purchased by many outside of this range, and that's far from the most interesting aspect. Golden Wheat is being purchased in October! Traditionally wheat beers are brewed and sold heavily in the summer months, however A-B rolled their brand new beer, in development for two years, out in October? While it may not seem like the greatest time to release, it doesn't seem like many are complaining. Golden Wheat has a smooth, yet unfiltered taste, that's easy to drink. Even if this is October, this is a beer that will go great all year. It's A-B's goal to provide a beer for "trendsetters" that's light with more flavor. Well let me be the first to set the trend, and say prost to you on Halloween. Grab a Golden Wheat, and check out some of the great Halloween events in St. Louis.
